Puma Strikes Again! For the third time in as many weeks, a puma has been spotted in an urban area, this time in the heart of Los Angeles. The big cat was seen near the Hollywood Bowl Wednesday night. Wildlife officials say they believe there is only one puma roaming freely in the city and that it's a young animal still learning how to survive in the wild. "Based on its behavior, we believe this is a young lion," said Phil NGeorges, spokesman for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. "It's not uncommon for young animals to roam far from their home territory." The department has been receiving numerous reports of sightings of the puma since it was first spotted near Griffith Park on March 3. Officials have tried using tranquilizer darts to capture the animal but so far have been unsuccessful. Pumas are typically shy animals and will try to avoid humans if possible.
